Matej Jurčević is a photographer working across portrait, fashion, and editorial photography. Moving between personal projects and commissioned work.
He studied photography at the Royal Academy of Fine Arts in Antwerp, where his diploma project won the Academy's Best Diploma Project of the Year and was published in Der Greif. His first photobook, I Try to Take Care of Myself Now (Organ Vida, 2022), led to an invitation to Musée de l'Elysée's reGeneration: Gen Z in 2025, a once-every-five-years expo of photographers shaping the medium's next chapter.
His most recent project, Silent Fleeting Sorrows — an intimate study of post-war Slavonia — won the VID Grand Award, was published in the British Journal of Photography, and was developed with Magnum Learn mentor Shannon Ghannam.
Alongside his personal work, he shoots for Vogue Adria, Financial Times UK, Adidas Originals, ELLE Cro and other editorial and commercial clients.
